A Day at the Glen Mhor Programme
Our Daily Schedule
6:50 a.m. - Wake Up - but only if you are interested in attending a Mhorning Activity.
7:00 a.m. - Mhorning Activities - If you like to get up early in the morning, you can
meet a couple of staff members in the Courtyard for the Mhorning Activity. Past Activities have included the Polar Bear Club (a swim), a jog on the camp road, bubbles and face painting. The counsellors who are running the Mhorning Activity will make an AWESOME announcement at dinner the night before so you can decide if and what you want to attend.
7:30 a.m. - Wake Up Bell - time for everyone else to get going!
7:45 a.m. - Mhorning Has Broken - We will all meet at the Flag Pole for a short devotion by one of the staff members and begin our day with "Oh, Canada".
8:00 a.m. - Breakfast - something great from our cook, Jersey, and her crew.
8:30 a.m. - Duties - Everyday at camp, everybody helps to keep Glen Mhor Camp clean and healthy by doing Duties. Duties will be picked at random for each cabin after breakfast, using the Duty Wheel. During your time at camp, you will get a chance to spin the Duty Wheel for your cabin group!
9:00 a.m. - Cabin Theme - Part of keeping Camp clean is tidying your cabin. Once that is done, you will have a chance to work on your Cabin Theme. Cabin Theme is the way that you decorate your cabin to impress the Nurse or whomever is checking the cabins. Some of the best Cabin Themes have included: Jurassic Park, a Comic Book Store, Used Car Dealership, Shopping at the Teddy Bear Mall and the Circus (with a colourful Big Top inside the cabin!).
9:30 a.m. - TLC (Talking & Learning in Christ)
10:30 a.m. - Cabin Session # 1 - One of the great things about Glen Mhor's unit camping philosophy is that you will get to know everyone in your cabin so well. Part of this is the time that you will spend together in your activity sessions. You will, as a cabin group, pick the camp programme areas that you wish to attend.
11:30 a.m. - Session # 2 or Choose Your Own Adventure - Second Session is a time to go to another programme area. Choose Your Own Adventure is the time, once or twice a week, when you get to pick what you want to do without everyone from your cabin. The camp staff will do a giant, creative announcement after supper the day before Choose Your Own Adventures so that you can tell your counsellor which one you are excited to do.
12:30 p.m. - Lunch
1:00 p.m. - Resthour - Everybody will go back to their own cabins for some quiet time of resting, writing letters, playing quiet games or reading. Sometimes, your counsellor will use this chance to catch up on the story that he or she was reading the night before.
2:30 p.m. - Session # 3
3:30 p.m. - Session # 4
4:30 p.m. - Free Swim - Time to go to the Beach! Even if you have had swimming already today you get to go back to beach for another cooling dip.
5:30 p.m. - Dinner
6:30 p.m. - Funnen Games/Staff TLC - This time is just for play (or social time if you are at Teen Week). A bunch of the staff will take everyone to try a new game, go for a swim or work on some skits for Campfire. Your counsellors and the staff who are not running Funnen Games will get a chance for some TLC time of their own.
7:30 p.m. - Evening Programme - Evening Programme is a camp-wide (everybody plays) activity that is base on the Theme of the Week (some of last year's Themes were: Once Upon a Mattress, Colour Your World, the Arctic, Fantasy Land, and Pirates).
8:30 p.m. - Snack & Campfire
Bedtime - will range from 9:00 p.m. if you are a Junior and 10:30 p.m. if you are a Teen (although, at Teen Week we have our Night Owl hours - add 2 hours to the schedule times).
Closing Devotions - Your counsellors, Grandparents or a special guest will close off your day with a devotion in your cabins.
