A Day at the Iona Programme
Mornings
Morning Dip and Food Fetch
Everyone can start their day the fresh way with a quick dip in the lake. Exchange good morning greetings with the other units, get any camp-wide announcements from the Resource Staff, check the community bulletin board and send a camper and a counsellor to grab your breakfast and lunch.
Breakfast
Cook your breakfast, clean out the tents, plan your day, eat, clean the plates and fill the water bottles.
Stibe
A bible study for your unit led by your counsellors.
Morning Activity
Go canoeing, swimming or hiking. Take time to do a camp craft or a nature lesson. Try out some of the Adventure! Activities.
Afternoons
Lunch
Most lunches do not require cooking. Gather as a unit, say grace, eat, clean the dishes and the site. Take a rest for the afternoon.
Afternoon Activities
Again, choose from any activities you would like to try.
Funnen Games and Staff Stibe
Campers gather near the Dainy Ray, staff gather at the Resource Yurt. Games are led by 3 staff while the rest attend Stibe.
Tent Time and Food Fetch
Unit time to build a campfire, work on a skit or song for the Big Bash or play fun games. One camper and one staff go to fetch the food
Evenings
Dinner
Make dinner, enjoy it together, clean up afterwards.
Evening Program
Units are welcome to plan their own evening program. It may include anything they like. There is no set programming past this point, but camper curfew is 10:00.
Other Things That Will Happen During Your Week At Camp
- Weekly, the Iona Big Bash (Iona Presents) will take place and all units are invited to attend.
- Once a week, a Chapel service will take place in the morning activity slot. Units may use Camper Stibe to prepare a piece for Chapel.
- A sign-up sheet will be available on the community bulletin board to sign up for canoeing, swimming, Adventure! and Creation's Quest. Only one unit may sign up at a time unless other arrangements have been made with the Resource Staff and Program Director.
- The Program Director will be in charge of the Community Bulletin Board, all schedules, Staff Stibe, the weekly chapel service, any First Aid concerns, the Dainy Ray building, communicating with the Camp Directors, etc. The Program Director will always have a walkie talkie (or will have assigned that role to a specific designate) and will always know what the units are doing. The Program Director will also make an attempt to check on each unit periodically throughout the week.
