Welcome to TRIUCHAN TAIRUS - Issue #1
Merry Christmas!
We would like to take a moment, from the start, to wish all of our Glen Mhor Family members a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We hope that everyone has some wonderful moments during these holidays to spend with family and in worship as we celebrate the birth of Jesus.
Introduction to TRIUCHAN TAIRUS
At Glen Mhor we are striving to incorporate the 4 S's (Safety, Servanthood, Self Esteem & Stewardship) in to all facets of our camp life. To this end we have begun this electronic Newsletter called Triuchan Tairus. We hope that through this medium we will be able to reduce the enormous amounts of paper that we consume sending out our Newsletters. These emails will be opt-in only (you will have to send us back an email stating your wish to continue to receive Triuchan Tairus) and you can have yourself removed from Triuchan Tairus at any time. Glen Mhor will not pass your email on to any organization not connected to the camp.
As an incentive, families who elect to receive "Triuchan Tairus", our new electronic newsletter, will get access to their own page on the Glen Mhor Camp website. The Triuchan Tairus page will include recent photos, in-depth articles about camp life, Staff interviews and an update on Glen Mhor Camp events in your community.
Great Moments In Camping
We are so very excited to have you join us for the first edition of Triuchan Tairus. It is wonderful to be able to communicate with all of you more often during the year and to have you participate in the camp newsletter with your contributions.
Although the staff and campers are gone, Glen Mhor Camp is still a very busy place to be. We are happy to report that Ted and Charlie, our maintenance men extraordinaire, have finished work on the resource staff washrooms. They will be ready to go in the spring at the start of Outdoor Ed.! Topaz and Zoic have been working on budgets and marketing and advertising for next season and Glen Mhor has already begun its season of church visits. The brochures for all of our congregations in the Toronto-Kingston Synod have been mailed and applications are available to future staff and Leaders in Training. Along with our camp board, we are working hard to ensure that our 73rd year is even better than the rest!
In their spare time, Zoic and Topaz are both sitting on camping conference committees (the Ontario Camping Association Human Resources Committee and the Ontario Camping Leadership Workshop, respectively) to add their input and to ensure that Glen Mhor is up to date with all the latest in camping resources.
The spring and summer staff are busy with work and school and are looking forward to next season. With each edition, we would like to highlight a staff member or two to let you know what great things they are busy doing. This month, we would like to tell you about our outtripper, "Wyllowe", who is currently in Uganda with the Mennonite Central Committee. She is teaching and serving the community and truly enjoying her time there. She returns to Canada at the end of August. Please keep "Wyllowe" in your thoughts and prayers. You may write to her through: MCC Uganda, Box 6051, Kampala, Uganda or email her at aeposte@uwaterloo.com We are certain she would love to hear from you.
As always, we would love to hear from you. We are currently accepting registrations for the 2003 season and would be happy to answer any of your questions. The sessions are filling quickly so please get your registrations in soon so that you will not be disappointed. We are already getting excited for next year!

In Memoriam
It is with deep sadness that we write to tell our families about the passing of one of our counsellors, Jay "Rodio" Cooke. The Glen Mhor staff, Toronto-Kingston PYPS and members of his church in Richmond Hill celebrated his life at Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, October 30th.
We are so sorry to have to tell you this by email but we wanted to make sure that as many people as possible knew before next season. We are planning, at this time, to remember Rodio with a special project in the summer.
Winter at Camp
Have you ever wondered what camp looks like in the winter? These pictures will give you a bit of an idea of what sort of fun that Topaz, Zoic, Spencer & Andrew have when you are not around. We are going to get the snowmobile going and dig out the toboggans!
Reunion:
We are excited to post a few pictures from our October camp reunion to the website. We will post this type of link only to people who subscribe to Triuchan Tairus in the future. Here are some pictures of Reunion (click on the thumbnails to see the full sized picture).
