Safety First

aquaThe safety of your children is of utmost importance to us. Those who are selected to join our staff team are required to attend a thorough, week-long training program which includes training in leadership, safety, and anti-bullying. All of our staff are required to submit a current Vulnerable Sector Screening test upon their arrival at camp.

Specialized staff have certifications to run specific programs like waterfront activities, high ropes, and zip line. The Health Centre is staffed by a registered nurse, and all of our staff are qualified in minimum Standard First Aid and CPR-C. The Huntsville Hospital and the Bracebridge Hospital are both located within a half-hour drive of Glen Mhor and Iona, and First Responders will be on scene within 5 minutes of a 911 call.

We are a fully accredited member of the Ontario Camps Association, which ensures we meet the highest standards of safety, leadership, food, water, and sanitation. Cairn also follows the Leading with Care Policy. Internally, we provide training on and abide by our Inclusivity Policy, which highlights that at camp, every child and staff member is respected and included for who they are and for what they have to offer to our community.

We are affiliated with Ontario Recreational Canoeing and Kayaking Association (ORCKA) and the Lifesaving Society (LSS).
